DEUX SERAUX
ABOUT US
Deux Seraux was founded by three friends from uncommon backgrounds. An old school farmer a Scotsman that sailed the world over, and a California surfer. Together we are Deux Seraux, which translates to βTwo Snakes and an Oxβ.
The wines are a culmination of our life experiences and a reflection of our personalities. Unique vineyard sites and creative winemaking expressions are at the core of Deux Seraux Wines. We focus on organic viticulture from sites we believe have a story to tell. The wines are fermented with native yeast, no additions, no filtration, no new oak, and bottled with minimal effective so2.
Brad Ely
Brad was born and raised on the Central Coast. He first developed an interest in winemaking while working in fine dining restaurants. After graduating from Cal Poly with a degree in Business and Entrepreneurship, he decided to forgo the suit and tie for jeans and work boots and accepted a harvest internship at a local winery in San Luis Obispo. After 2 years of full-time cellar work, his thirst for knowledge and experience led him all over the world, with opportunities in France, Australia, New Zealand, and Washington state. After sixteen harvests under his belt, he again calls San Luis Obispo home, where he lives with his wife Kaylie, two Bernese Mountain Dogs, and a soon to be daughter Ruby. Brad has a deep passion for winemaking, focusing on wines of freshness and balance, that truly show a sense of place. When not at his day job as the winemaker for Barton Family Wines, Brad can be found surfing our local beaches, playing golf, and camping with his family.
Barry White
Originally a native of Glasgow, Scotland, Barry now resides in the small town of Templeton with his wife, Sharon, and two daughters on the beautiful Central Coast of California. Barry currently serves as the Executive Vice President & General Manager at Ancient Peaks winery following 3 years with Barton Family Estate and more than 20 years at Princess Cruise Line. Partnering with the Barton and Ely families; Deux Seraux is the result of a lifelong dream for Barry and Sharon to own an ultra-premium small wine brand.
Joe Barton
Joe founded Grey Wolf Cellars & Barton Family Wines in 1993 after attending Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Joe's passion is creating a distinct style of wine, sourcing from dry-farmed vineyards in the Paso Robles Willow Creek, Templeton Gap and Adelaida District AVAs. Farming is the core of his business and by understanding the unique microclimates of Paso Robles' distinct AVAs, he is able to identify the best location for growing a variety of wines with regional character. He has created a dynamic portfolio of wines by focusing on making hand-crafted wines from specific sites and plans on doing the same for Deux Seraux.
Joe's humble beginnings and hard work have brought him exactly what he wants β to make wines that represent Paso Robles. After thirty years of winemaking, heβs still captivated by tractors, bud break and turning fruit into wine.
